In accordance with Board of Regents Policy 4.1.6, all applicants for admission to Georgia Health Sciences University for Fall 2011 or any academic semester thereafter will be required to provide validation of lawful presence in the United States. Acceptance to the Georgia Health Sciences University is conditional until lawful presence is verified.  ALL applicants must submit documentation that verifies his/her lawful presence in the United States.

US Citizens may submit documents to the Office of Academic Admissions.

 Acceptable documents to determine lawful presence for US Citizens include:
    • A Certified U.S. Birth Certificate showing the student was born in the U.S. or a U.S. territory. A photocopy is not acceptable.
    • A U.S. Certificate of Naturalization (USCIS form N-550 or N-570).
    • A U.S. Certificate of Citizenship (USCIS form N-560 or N-561).
    • A U.S. Certificate of Birth Abroad issued by the Department of State (DS-1350) or a Consular Report of Birth Abroad (FS-240).
    • A current U.S. Passport. (photocopy must include the photo page and the following page)
    • A current Driver's License* issued by the State of Georgia after January 1, 2008.
  • A current Driver's License* issued by the State of Alabama after August 1, 2000.
  • A current Driver's License* issued by the State of South Carolina after November 1, 2008.
  • A current ID* issued by the State of Georgia after January 1, 2008.
  • A current military ID. (service member only, not dependent)
  • A current, valid Permanent Resident Card (USCIS form I-151 or I-551)

*Must have clear photo.  We recommend using a scanned copy and emailing to admissions@georgiahealth.edu.


Lawful presence may also be verified by results provided by the US Department of Education for students applying for federal student aid (FAFSA).


 

Non-U.S. Citizens will verify lawful presence through the Student Diversity International Office.

  • If you are an F-1 or J-1 International Student, in addition to contacting OSDI prior to registration, upon arrival on campus you are required to present original immigration services documents to OSDI for review. Your lawful presence requirement will be fulfilled at this time.

  • If you are a permanent resident, in addition to contacting OSDI prior to registration, upon arrival on campus you are required to present original immigration services documents to OSDI for review. Your lawful presence requirement will be fulfilled at this time.

  • If you are a Non-US Citizen in another category, you must contact OSDI for documentation requirements. Upon arrival on campus you are required to present original immigration services documents to OSDI for review.
