  • 12:30 pm – 3:00 pm: Simulation Lab

TARGET AUDIENCE:  Faculty Physicians

 OBJECTIVES:

  1. Identify current healthcare polices and regulatory bodies that impact patient care practice.
  2. Discuss accepted standards/guidelines as they relate to the surgical field and sterile procedures
  3. View demonstration of standards/guidelines as they relate to the surgical field and sterile procedures.
    a. Review of skills used in sterile procedures
    b. Technique to reduce bloodstream infections.
  4. Identify breaks in sterile/aseptic technique in presented scenarios
  5. Demonstrate competency in skills using accepted standards/guidelines as they relate to the surgical field and sterile procedures in a simulated environment
  6. Assume responsibility for one’s own clinical competency in skills relating to the surgical field and sterile procedure through ongoing self-evaluation
