Teaching Areas

My teaching interest is in gastrointestinal and solid organ disorders as well as the evaluation and management of inguinal, incisional, and complex hernias.  I have a strong interest in surgical education, particularly the use of surgical skills training to supplement and enrich the use of advanced laparoscopic surgical techniques.

Clinical Interests

My clinical interest is in the use of advanced laparoscopic techniques for foregut procedures (Nissen fundoplication, paraesophageal hernia repair, Heller myotomy, esophagectomy, gastrectomy), solid organ procedures (adrenalectomy, splenectomy, distal pancreatectomy, partial and total nephrectomy for benign and malignant disease), small bowel and colorectal procedures for benign and malignant disease, and hernia repairs.  I also have a very strong interest in the management of complex hernias.

Research Areas

My current research interest is in the assessment of techniques, materials, and outcomes for hernia repair and surgical education
