William E. McBride, Jr. is the Director of the Public Safety Division and Chief of Police for the GHSU Police
Bureau.
The GHSU Police Bureau is tasked with the responsibility of providing professional law enforcement programs that reduce crime, and create a safe community environment at the Georgia Health Sciences University.
The GHSU Police Bureau established in 1973, is a full service State of Georgia Law Enforcement Agency staffed with ( 32 ) P.O.S.T. certified police officers, ( 9 ) Communication / Service Officers, ( 1 ) Records Supervisor and ( 1 ) Physical Security Manager. Our community oriented police agency provides comprehensive law enforcement to the GHSU Campus, Hospital and Clinic areas. The Bureau's investigative unit investigates all criminal incidents reported to the agency. A 24 hour emergency and non-emergency communications center is operated from the Annex II building at 524 15 th Street in Augusta, Georgia.
The Bureau maintains a high standard of response and service for the GHSU community. The maintenance of this standard is dependent upon the feedback and input of the people we serve. The GHSU Police Bureau has a process in place to respond to citizen complaints and concerns. The department also recognizes employees that have been deemed as providing outstanding service.
On September 10, 2008, the GHSU Police Bureau was awarded, "State of Georgia's Law Enforcement Agency Certification. The Certification Program gives an agency a set of operating policies and procedures that ensures high professional standards are maintained.
